RESTAURANT OF MODROKAMENNÁ BOUDA GUESTHOUSE
RESTAURANT HISTORY
As late as 1875, spa doctor Bernhard Pauer mentioned only Jáchym’s huts on the eastern slope of Světlá hora, known today as Reiss’s Cottages. Shortly after this date, Franz Braun from Černá hora built a mountain excursion inn near the quartzite rocks of Harfa and Modré kameny. A coin-operated music box attracted dancing visitors from the wide surroundings even during the time of innkeeper Vilém Lauer.
The inn prospered under Alfred Jeschke, the grandson of the mayor of Janské Lázně and owner of several hotels, Wenzel Stark, on his mother’s side. He bought it at the end of 1918 and renamed it the Hut at the Blue Stones – Modrokamenná Bouda. It became famous thanks to a charming, stout housekeeper and excellent cook known for her renowned blueberry cakes with whipped cream.
